All of our Maltese dogs are AKC (American Kennel Club) registered. They are our beloved pets and live in our home with Todd (my husband) and I. Maltese puppies are raised under our feet with much love and attention. They will learn basic social skills (both doggie and human). They will also be started on potty training to pads by the time you will receive your puppy. He/she will not be fully house-trained, but they will have a good start.
Below is the American Kennel Club (AKC) breed standard for the Maltese dog. You can also find the breed standards listed on the AKC website at www.akc.org.
*Toy Group: AKC recognized in 1888.
*Under 7 lbs: 4 to 6 pounds preferred.
*For all his diminutive size, the Maltese seems to be without fear. His trust and affectionate responsiveness
are very appealing.
*he is among the gentlest mannered of all little dogs, yet he is lively and playful as well as vigorous.
The Maltese is listed in the "Toy" category. There is one size and only one size recognized by the AKC for the Maltese dog (under 7 pounds; 4 to 6 pounds preferred). The Maltese does not come in 3 sizes like the Poodle (Standard, Miniature and Toy). There is no recognition by the AKC of a "Teacup Maltese". People often refer to Maltese dogs that weigh below the 4 lb. standard as "Teacup Maltese".
Our pedigree's will contain Champions not because we are show breeders, but to keep the quality of our dogs high and true to breed standards. Our intent is to produce beautiful, lovable and healthy companions for those who choose to share their lives with our puppies.
We are not brokers. The puppies we sell are produced in our home by our females that have been bred to our males. We do not stand our males to the public or breed our girls to male dogs owned by others. Our vet refers to this as a "closed colony".
We do not sell our puppies to brokers or pet stores as we care about the well-being of our puppies. Our puppies are loved and adored from the first minute they enter this world. They grow up here in a home with us until they are ready to go to their new home with a wonderful family that will love and cherish them as much as we do.....that is what we want for our puppies.
We will provide a written health guarantee that will be signed by you and by me when your puppy is ready to go home with you. Before you make a deposit on one of our puppies, we will e-mail you our health guarantee so you can read it. You should have the opportunity to read it and know what is in our guarantee before placing your deposit. As conscientious as we are, sometimes genes can come together wrong. If we could prevent all birth defects, no human child would ever be born with birth defects. For this very reason, we provide a health guarantee.
When we have puppies available we will accept deposits to hold your puppy until he/she is old enough to leave home (usually between 11 to 12 weeks of age, but smaller puppies may need to stay longer). The balance for your puppy will be due when we meet and you receive your puppy. You are welcome to pay the deposit with a personal check, but we ask that you bring a money order or cashier's check for final payment when you come for your puppy. We cannot guarantee a puppy's availability unless you place a deposit on one of our puppies once they are doing well and available for deposit. Your deposit will not be returned to you if you simply change your mind about purchasing the puppy.
Our Maltese puppies are placed as pets with AKC "limited registration" unless other arrangements are made. AKC "limited registration" means that your puppy can be registered with the American Kennel Club, but he/she cannot be shown in conformation class. Your puppy can compete in many other AKC events with "limited registration", just not the conformation class. If bred, their puppies will not be eligible for registration with the AKC due to the "limited registration" status placed on the registration by the breeder (us).
*Vaccinations and Worming
The puppies will be age appropriately vaccinated and wormed when you receive them. They will come with a health record noting dates vaccinated and wormed. Please present our information to your vet when you go for his/her "healthy puppy vet visit" within 72 hours of taking him/her home (this requirement is written in the health guarantee).
All puppies will have a microchip implanted when you receive them. You will receive information to enable you to transfer your puppy's microchip number from my name to your name. The microchips we purchase for our puppies are purchased from the American Kennel Club.
*We are always here for you
After you take your puppy home, we are still available to you as a resource.
